Local Gaming News for August, 2018

From the Editor

Behind the scenes we’ve been hard at work putting the final touches on our brand new website, and I’m thrilled to say it’s now open to the general public!

Brisbane Byte has been operating since late 2016 and up until now we’ve relied soley on word of mouth thanks to our loyal readers such as yourself.

This new website has a tonne of info on local games and businesses (plus where to find them), an interactive upcoming events calendar, blog posts, and maybe some merch down the road.

That’s not the end of it though. We will continually be updating the website with all of the latest games and events as soon as we hear about them.

Have any feedback about the website? Let us know and we’ll do our very best to make it a reliable tool for all Brisbane gamers.

Golf with your Friends Level Editor

The Let’s Play sensation Golf With Your Friends by local devs Blacklight Interactive has released the first phase of its level editor.

You can look forward to all sorts of crazy custom-made courses now that the update has gone out to the masses.

The Eyes of Ara on IOS

Here at Brisbane Byte we’re incredibly proud of all the local game developers who pour everything into their games, whether for work or a passion project.

When a game from our neck of the woods, like Ben Droste’s The Eyes of Ara which is out now on iOS, gets featured on the Apple app store it makes it even more special. Well done!

ZERO LATENCY SESSIONS

Zero Latency in Newstead, the free roam, warehouse multiplayer VR experience which has now been in operation for a full year in Brisbane, has extended their game sessions from 45 minutes to one hour. Now you can fight off hordes of zombies AND defeat killer robots across multiple gametypes within the alloted time.

Play on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights to get off-peak pricing, roughly equivalent to 10% off.

Idle Earth Hits 100K

Available on Android and in browsers everywhere, Game Sage Productions’ latest title Idle Earth has now had 100,000 people play the game since launching late last year!
A huge congrats to all the team at Game Sage!

Connecting to Conexio

Have you visited Conexio Games Cafe in Albany Creek yet? Whether you go for the food, the board games, or the relaxed family environment, there are now even more reasons to go thanks to their brand new website.

Go to conexiogamescafe.com.au and you’ll be able to see the cafe menu, their entire collection of board games, and even connect to other players before visiting. It’s well worth a look!

Barry Flies Again

Halfbrick’s incredibly popular mobile title Jetpack Joyride is now being turned into a board game thanks to the talented folks at Lucky Duck Games.

Running a Kickstarter all throughout July, the campaign reached it’s $8000 USD goal within 45 minutes, unlocked 8 stretch goals in the first day, and went on to earn in excess of $180,000 USD.
